Eric Thomas, world-renowned speaker, educator, and “The Hip Hop Preacher,” has launched his own platform called ETVerse.
“I have to really give credit to Jalin for making that connection,” ET told AfroTech. “And then I’m just using the gifts and talents that I’ve been using for the last 30 years in speaking and motivation consulting, but just using it on this platform now.”
Last week, Thomas launched the first cohort of artists who will design the Genesis Collection of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) for the ETVerse to raise funds for The School Days Foundation.
Thomas founded the nonprofit to empower young people to be successful students, so they can grow and develop into transformational leaders, innovators and world-changers.
According to its website, “Web3 represents the next generation of the internet and an opportunity to eliminate barriers to financial inclusion, take back control of our digital lives, and create powerful communities that we all own together.
The NFTs on the platform have all been crafted by creators of color artists from around the world, providing the artists an opportunity to focus on their creativity while maintaining control over their future.Â
“The ETVerse will address the economic disparity gap by creating an unbiased, equal opportunity ecosystem,” ET said in a press release. “We are combining NFTs, crypto, Web3 and other new mediums to build a community of people who are empowered as creators, inspired as individuals and ready to invest in themselves and the future. Our motto for the ETVerse is #inspiretheblock.”
As an extra incentive, NFTs also will serve as a unique e-ticket to ETVerse events in the real and digital worlds and to gated content and communities that will reside only in the ETVerse. Genesis is minting on June 1.
All proceeds will go directly to the artists and The School Days Foundation.
